Announcing the Winners of the End-of-Year Giving Campaign

At the end of 2018, Give2Asia launched the #WhatsYourCause campaign to amplify local stories from across the Asia Pacific. Our goal was to mobilize donations to at least 100 projects across the region. Every donation made from October 1st until the end of the year also put a community-led nonprofit on a path to receive 1) a bonus financial gift and 2) a video feature amplifying their story.

With your help, we exceeded our goal and brought donations to 112 partners – that’s 22% more than last year!

695 Total Donations, amounting to
US$1.3million, supporting
112 Partners, across
22 Countries/Regions.

LOCAL STORIES: ANNOUNCING THE CAMPAIGN WINNERS

December: Pour un Sourire d’Enfant’s (PSE) – For a Child’s Smile (Cambodia)

The final campaign winner, Pour un Sourire d’Enfant’s (PSE), has been working locally in Phnom Penh since 1995 to transform conditions for underprivileged children. They have developed pragmatic solutions to meet community needs not only to connect children with education, but also to transition them into the workforce. Their services extend far beyond schooling to include safe shelter, mental health counseling, 24/7 care for students with disabilities, and they even provide compensation to families in need to remove the financial burden that often keeps children from being able to go to school. With the #WhatsYourCause Campaign Award financial bonus, they will be able to provide all the needed support services to 12 additional students for the next year.

November: The American School in Japan

The second campaign winner is Tokyo’s oldest international school: The American School in Japan. Since 1902, ASIJ has been an embodiment of Japan’s renowned education model by cultivating global citizens that give back to their communities both within and beyond Japan. Their extensive service programs have helped K-12 year youth make a difference across Asia, and have been a hallmark of Tokyo’s international communities for over a century.

October: Sai Maa Vishnu Shakti Trust (India)

The first campaign winner is Sai Maa Vishnu Shakti Trust, a nonprofit in India providing humanitarian services including resources for women’s empowerment, feeding programs, and a Cataract Surgery Project that restores the vision of 100 villagers across 40 villages each year. Their services have transformed the lives of many within and surrounding Rishikesh, and have empowered countless women to become further agents of positive change in their communities.
