The Country Advisor will work with members of the programs team on their program development and grantmaking goals.

The Programs Department at Give2Asia is responsible for managing donor relationships and accounts, conducting efficient and effective grantmaking to organizations in Asia, developing new programs in collaboration with donors and grantees, and generating program-related informational and educational communication.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating the due diligence process for new and prospective grantees as well as existing grantees needing renewals, review due diligence documents that are submitted, and advise Give2Asia as to whether the organization should be considered for Give2Asia grants.
  • Assisting with the review of new proposals and budgets, including: ensuring timely receipt of proposals and budgets from grantees; reviewing documents to ensure they are complete and in compliance with Give2Asia standards; and communicating with the grantee to verify or clarify information.
  • Facilitating grants administration for all grants in Vietnam.
  • Assisting with grant monitoring and reporting, including: conducting mid-point telephone
check-ins with grantees; grantee site visits, when necessary; advising Give2Asia on the performance of the grantee; ensuring timely receipt of reports from grantees; reviewing all grantee reports to ensure they are complete and in compliance with Give2Asia standards; forwarding reports to San Francisco staff; and communicating with grantee to clarify information in reports, when necessary.
  • Translating grantee documents when needed.
  • Assisting with other activities related to liaising with grantees or providing high quality 
stewardship to donors, as requested.
  • Researching and identifying new projects and partners, and conducting needs assessments or other special research, as requested.
  • Assisting donors and Asia-based representatives of donors on-site in Vietnam, as requested.
  • Supporting Give2Asia’s Fiscal Sponsorship program by expanding the partner network, including developing a robust pipeline of potential partners.
  • Raising Give2Asia’s visibility and expanding Give2Asia’s local network in Vietnam.
  • Respond to other requests for assistance from Give2Asia staff in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA.

The Country Advisor must be fluent in Vietnamese; demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and research skills; and is committed to facilitating philanthropy in support of vital, sustainable communities in Asia.

The Field Advisor will work with members of the programs team on their program development and grantmaking goals. The Field Advisors will also be able to work cross-functionally across multiple departments (i.e. marketing). This is a part-time, consultant position.

  • Researching and identifying new projects and partners, and conducting needs assessments or other special research, as requested.
  • Assisting donors and Asia-based representatives of donors on-site in Hong Kong, as requested.
  • Providing information on Give2Asia’s fiscal sponsorship services to potential client organizations in Hong Kong, as appropriate.
  • Depositing and scanning checks for donations to Give2Asia Foundation Limited in Hong Kong, as needed.

Give2Asia is seeking an intern to join the Finance & Administrations team starting September 16, 2019. Interns will become familiar with the business systems and methods of operations of an international non-governmental organization (NGO) through project-oriented assignments. Interns will help manage our financial database, assist in improving current processes, and have the opportunity to work with other functional areas as needs arise.   

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and record investment transactions to prepare for annual audit.  
  • Assist in data gathering and analysis for better tracking manhours by business area. 
  • Perform reconciliations of client accounts in database.  
  • Participate in process improvement projects to improve efficiency of financial and operational tasks.  
  • Assist accounts payable with expense report reviews and backup file management.  
  • Special projects as needed.   

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field with good understanding of basic accounting principles. (Or currently pursuing degree to be attained within 1 year)  
  • Interest in developing career in a nonprofit organization.  
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.   
  • Ability to keep impeccable records and to sustain strong attention to detail.  

TIME COMMITMENT

Candidates must be available for at least 10 hours per week (up to 30 hours per week) for a six-month period. The proposed start date is September 16, 2019 but flexible. This is a volunteer position with a $25/day stipend available for meals and transportation.

Give2Asia is seeking an intern to join the Marketing Team. Interns will create written and graphical content for Give2Asia’s digital presence to include social media, press releases, email campaigns, and web design. The ideal candidate is a university student with an interest in international development and basic familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, AfterEffects) or comfort learning new software.

This position will provide firsthand experience into the workings of an international nonprofit committed to empowering communities in the Asia Pacific, and the candidate should leave with strong hands-on insights into digital marketing and the development sector. Responsibilities typically expand to encompass the individual skills and passions that each candidate brings to the position. Creativity is encouraged!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing and strengthening engagement of social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Conducting research and writing compelling content for blog posts, social media, press releases, and other outlets as needed
  • Creating basic graphics using Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and animations using Adobe AfterEffects. Training is provided for interns without previous experience using these softwares, making this a unique learning opportunity.
  • Providing updates to the website, supporting event planning, and other administrative tasks

SKILLS THAT INTERN CAN EXPECT TO GAIN

  • Training with Adobe CS to produce original graphics and creative animated content (Illustrator, AfterEffects, InDesign)
  • Managing social media platforms and blog of an international nonprofit, with focused guidance on writing and editing
  • Conducting firsthand interviews with staff in Asia to create blog posts
  • Opportunity to conduct research and produce outward-facing content on current issues in Asia, including topics such as: disaster preparedness, women’s empowerment, livelihood trainings, public health, education, and environmental conservation
  • Data analysis to optimize content including Google Adwords, email campaigns, social media posts, and donor engagement
  • Familiarity with nonprofit sector in the Asia Pacific, including networking opportunities with staff and Field Advisors across the region

BENEFITS

This position is an opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience working for an international NGO focused on development in the Asia Pacific region. The ideal candidates have a degree or are working towards a degree, and have a demonstrated interest in fields such as marketing/communications, international development, Asian studies, journalism, event planning, and/or design. Candidates should have professional writing ability and some experience in research, digital media, internet fluency. Basic familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite is strongly desired but not necessary.

Interns are expected to work three days per week (roughly 20 hours/week) for an approximately three-month period. There is flexibility as to hours and days worked, and remote work from Berkeley is also possible. The intern will work directly under the Senior Marketing Associate.

Unfortunately, for this position we are not able to offer pay but we do provide a stipend for meals and transportation. If there are opportunities to fulfill university credit for this position then we will gladly pursue them.
