It is the country’s pioneer environmental conservation organization. The Haribon Foundation is a leader in transforming everyone into a biodiversity champion in the Philippines. The Foundation advocates for biodiversity conservation by building constituencies, empowering communities and applying scientific and multi-disciplinary approaches. Haribon was established in 1972 as a bird watching society and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1984. Haribon is accredited by the Department of Science and Technology and the Philippine Council for NGO Certification.
Haribon is led by a team of credible conservationists and experts who are committed to learning and sharing how protecting nature ultimately protects life. It has 48 years of protecting nature and preserving life through the following interventions: bird conservation, forest restoration, marine conservation, scientific research, policy advocacy, environmental education, community empowerment, public awareness and engagement, agriculture innovations, natural resource management, environmental planning, community organizing, stakeholder management, project management, volunteer management, and gender and development.
Haribon belongs to different national and international affiliations and networks. It is the Birdlife International partner in the Philippines. It is a member of the following networks: Green Convergence, Save Sierra Madre Network Alliance, Green Thumb Coalition, MPA Support Network, NGO for Fisheries Reform.
