The China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development (CFFPD) is a 4A-level public foundation approved by China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs and overseen by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Established on May 15, 1996, in Beijing, its mission is to strengthen bonds between Chinese and global communities, promote global cooperation, ensure harmony, and foster shared progress.

One challenge arises from disparities in medical resources between urban and rural areas, leading rural residents to travel extensively for medical care, causing delays and financial burdens. The initiative aims to educate rural medical practitioners in Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM), which plays a vital role in addressing, preventing, and managing COVID-19 reducing healthcare expenses for rural residents. CFFPD’s contribution has effectively concluded the Rural Doctors Training: Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) program in Lvliang City, Shanxi Province, and Qianjiang District, Chongqing City, China. Since July 2021, a total of 535 rural doctors have been enthusiastically trained in TCM, highlighting their impact.

CFFPD operates nationally throughout China. CFFPD partners with Give2Asia for disaster response and recovery. They have received multiple disaster grants, including one in September 2022. CFFPD has actively responded to over five disaster events, with their latest response on July 20, 2021, to heavy rainfall in central and northern Henan, particularly in Zhengzhou, Xinxiang, Kaifeng, Zhoukou, Jiaozuo, and other areas, where rainfall in Zhengzhou reached 500-657 mm. In response, the foundation and G2A launched a joint rescue plan to support the children of a flood, offering educational incentives, mental health counseling, and family protection programs.

The CFFPD’s expertise in two key areas of disaster management—Emergency Relief and Response (which includes medical support, psychosocial support, food relief, emergency food rations, and shelter management) and Livelihood Recovery (involving alternative livelihood support and capacity-building to restore and strengthen people’s livelihoods)—positions them to respond promptly to disaster events in China.
