2018 Plan Under Overseas NGO Law Includes US$11.4 Million in Grants
Give2Asia has gained approval for its 2018 Annual Activity Plan in mainland China, with over US$ 11.4 million in grants to support the work of China-based charitable organizations. Give2Asia has additionally been approved to submit a Mid-Year Activity Plan and now is seeking additional donor partners to further expand its 2018 project work.
Last July, Give2Asia became officially registered in China thanks to its partnership with its professional supervisory unit, the China People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and with guidance and support from the Beijing Public Security Bureau.
“Mainland China has always been one of the most active areas of work for Give2Asia,” said Mr. Birger Stamperdahl, president & CEO of Give2Asia. “Thanks to our great partnerships and support in China, we are now able to move forward with programs across mainland China and across a broad range of issues in collaboration with our corporate and family donors.”
As one of fewer than 350 overseas non-governmental organizations to have established a Representative Office in China, Give2Asia is able to partner with other international donors to support the work of foundations, nonprofits, and other charitable institutions in China across a broad range of issues.
If you are interested in including your grant on Give2Asia’s Mid-Year Activity Plan, please contact Give2Asia immediately at info@give2asia.org. For more details on procedures and timelines, please review the Donor Guide in the Resources section below.
About China’s Overseas NGO Law
The Law on the Management of Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations’ Activities in the People’s Republic of China, or the Overseas NGO Law, took effect on January 1st, 2017. Its new regulations create two avenues for foreign foundations and nonprofits to support activities in mainland China: the foreign NGO can establish a Representative Office in China itself, or the China-based grantee partners can apply for temporary activity permits in order to receive funds from overseas. Give2Asia successfully registered a Representative Office in Beijing on June 30th, 2017. Learn more about navigating the law by reading Give2Asia’s guidance to donors interested in philanthropy in China.
