The team at Give2Asia is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Ta-lin Hsu, a remarkable leader known for his exceptional achievements in both business and philanthropy.
Dr. Hsu’s impact on Give2Asia was profound. He dedicated a decade of service on the board of Give2Asia in the U.S., including six years as our esteemed Board Chairman from 2012 to 2017. Additionally, he served on the board of Give2Asia Foundation in Hong Kong SAR from 2012 until his passing in 2024.
Together with his wife Joyce Hsu, Dr. Hsu was among the earliest supporters of Give2Asia when we were founded in 2001. Over the years, his collaboration with Give2Asia extended to funding arts initiatives in Taipei, fostering tech-focused social ventures in Beijing and Shanghai, and forging partnerships with the Chinese American community in Silicon Valley. Dr. Hsu generously opened his home for charitable events and consistently championed causes close to his heart.
Dr. Hsu’s tireless dedication and innovative approach set him apart. His passion and drive were evident in every endeavor he pursued. As a venture capitalist, he achieved remarkable success with his company, H&Q Asia Pacific, which he founded in 1985. Notably, H&Q Asia Pacific played a pivotal role in funding the first Starbucks in China, introducing MTV to Japan, and supporting numerous groundbreaking companies worldwide in technology, healthcare, and beyond.
To Dr. Hsu’s family, we, the Board of Directors and Staff at Give2Asia, extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt wishes.
