Give2Asia Recognizes George SyCip’s 20 Years of Board Service, Announces New Board Chair, and Welcomes New Member


Give2Asia is pleased to announce recent leadership updates to its Board of Directors, underscoring the organization’s continued commitment to strong governance and deep expertise in cross-border philanthropy.

George SyCip Stepping Down After 20 Years of Service

The entire Give2Asia family extends its sincere gratitude to George SyCip for his distinguished service as Chair as he retires from Give2Asia’s board this year to become an Emeritus Board Chair and continues to provide guidance and advice to our Board. 

Mr. SyCip has served as an active member of Give2Asia’s Board since 2005 and became the Chair in 2016.Since then, Give2Asia has benefited from George’s steady leadership and strategic guidance during a period of significant growth and transformation for the organization. His deep experience in cross-border finance, governance, and U.S.-Asia engagement has helped strengthen Give2Asia’s institutional foundation and advance its mission.  

Give2Asia is deeply honored for his years of dedication and leadership and thank him for his continued support in his emeritus role. 

Mark Sidel Elected as Board Chair

Our Board of Directors has elected Mark Sidel to serve as Board Chair of Give2Asia beginning January 1, 2026. Professor Sidel joined the Give2Asia Board in 2025 and brings decades of experience in international philanthropy, nonprofit law, and U.S.–China civil society engagement. 

He is the Doyle-Bascom Professor of Law and Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an elected member of the American Law Institute. Professor Sidel currently serves on the boards of several leading organizations working at the intersection of philanthropy, civil society, and global development, including the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICLN) and the China Medical Board. 

Professor Hau Lee Joins the Board of Directors

Give2Asia is also pleased to welcome Professor Hau L. Lee to its Board of Directors. 

Professor Lee is a retired professor from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a globally recognized expert in supply chain management, global logistics, and value chain innovation. He served as co-director of the Stanford Value Chain Innovation Initiative and continues to advise on initiatives focused on economic development and sustainability. 

Hau Lee HeadshotA widely published scholar and former Editor-in-Chief of Management Science, Professor Lee has also worked extensively with public- and private-sector organizations around the world. He is a co-founder of DemandTec and serves on the boards and advisory boards of several logistics and supply chain technology companies. 

Professor Lee’s expertise in global systems, innovation, and responsible business practices will further strengthen Give2Asia’s strategic leadership. 

Give2Asia warmly thanks George SyCip for his contributions, and welcomes Mark Sidel and Hau Lee in their new roles. We look forward to working with them as the organization continues to advance effective, locally informed philanthropy that supports Chinese communities.
