This grant report reflects the on-the-ground impact of Give2Asia’s 2025 China Flood Response, launched in July to address the escalating effects of seasonal flooding across multiple regions of China.
While the 2025 campaign mobilized urgent resources in response to severe rainfall and flooding this year, many of the initiatives documented here represent sustained, multi-year efforts that extend well beyond emergency relief. Together, these programs demonstrate how Give2Asia and its local partners provide continuous support—from immediate rescue and recovery to long-term rebuilding, mental health care, education, and livelihood restoration—in recognition that flooding is an annual and ongoing challenge for vulnerable communities.
Give2Asia China Flood Disaster Rescue Support
Grant Amount: $177,257.10
Following the severe flooding caused by Typhoon Doksuri in August 2023, this project supported disaster-affected communities in Hebei and Northeast China through a combination of material assistance and work-for-relief programs. More than 30,000 people have benefited from emergency equipment donations, including heavy machinery and communication devices to support rescue and recovery efforts. Housing reconstruction and subsidy distribution were completed across 16 villages, directly assisting over 15,000 residents in rebuilding homes and restoring safe, livable rural communities.
Psychological Assistance Hotline Support for China Floods
Grant Amount: $48,000
Launched in response to widespread flooding in Henan and Shanxi Provinces in 2021, this program addresses urgent mental health needs among disaster survivors and frontline responders. Support from Give2Asia strengthened this emergency psychological hotline through expert supervision, crisis management guidance, and system improvements. The hotline handled over 32,000 calls, successfully intervened in crisis cases without requiring police involvement, and enhanced long-term service capacity through improved digital platforms—ensuring sustained psychological support in flood-affected regions.
Tomorrow-iCAN Program (Flood-Affected Shanxi Province)
Grant Amount: $287,688.40
Established after severe flooding disrupted education in Shanxi Province in 2021, the Tomorrow-iCAN Program supports first-generation college-bound students from flood-affected families. The program provides ongoing scholarships and academic enrichment to 645 high school students across 22 county-level schools. By 2023, 92% of participating students who sat for the provincial college entrance exam were admitted to universities, demonstrating the program’s long-term role in reducing educational barriers and supporting youth resilience in disaster-impacted communities.
Henan Heroes Program
Grant Amount: $232,870.55
In response to the deadly 2021 floods in Henan Province, this multi-year initiative provides sustained support to families of frontline flood relief workers who lost their lives during rescue efforts. Over four years, the program delivered education and elderly care grants, annual household visits, and ongoing emotional support to nine bereaved families. By addressing long-term livelihood, education, and well-being needs, the project ensures continued care for families impacted by the human cost of disaster response.
“Hearts with Henan” Flood Response
Grant Amount: $160,000
Following extreme flooding in Henan Province in 2021, this project focused on restoring essential infrastructure and strengthening local governance capacity. Support enabled repairs to schools and village roads across multiple counties, benefiting tens of thousands of students and residents. In addition, office equipment and furnishings were provided to village committees in more than 80 villages, improving public service delivery and helping communities rebuild functional local institutions after widespread disruption.
Flood Disaster Relief in Henan, China
Grant Amount: $387,000
After the 2021 floods affected more than 14.8 million people in Henan Province, this project focused on restoring educational environments and strengthening disaster preparedness in township schools. Support included campus reconstruction, kitchen facility upgrades, disaster prevention classrooms, and teacher training across multiple schools. By improving both physical infrastructure and institutional capacity, the project promoted long-term student well-being and increased community resilience to future flooding.
Hebei Post-Disaster Industrial Recovery Project
Grant Amount: $19,000
In response to severe rainfall and crop damage in Hebei Province in July 2023, this project supported post-disaster economic recovery in Yangyuan County through agricultural training and market development. Local farmers received technical guidance on crop production, participated in knowledge exchange visits, and gained support for product packaging and market access. These efforts helped restore livelihoods and strengthen long-term income opportunities in a community repeatedly affected by extreme weather.
We extend our sincere thanks to the individuals, foundations, and corporate partners whose generosity made these efforts possible. Your support enables Give2Asia and our trusted local partners to respond not only to immediate disasters, but also to sustain long-term recovery and resilience in communities affected by recurring floods. Together, we are helping ensure that those most impacted by annual flooding receive the care, resources, and opportunities they need to rebuild and move forward.
