The United Nations International School Hanoi is one of only two United Nations international schools in the world. It was the first international school established in Vietnam and is the original International Baccalaureate World School in Asia. It is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1988 with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Vietnam (UNDP), UNICEF and the Vietnamese government. UNIS Hanoi is an English language, coeducational, dayschool which offers a programme from Discovery (age 3) through Grade 12. The School is accredited by the Council of International Schools, the Western Association of Schools and Collegesand the International Baccalaureate Organization. The school provides a co-educational environment for elementary, secondary, and college preparatory courses based on the International Baccalaureate programme for more than 1,100 students in pre-school through to grade 12.
