The United Nations International School Hanoi ​is one of only two United Nations international schools in the world. It was the first international school​ established in Vietnam and is the original ​International Baccalaureate​ World School in Asia. It is a private, non­profit organization founded in 1988 with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Vietnam (UNDP), ​UNICEF ​and the Vietnamese government. UNIS Hanoi is an English language, coeducational, day­school which offers a programme from Discovery (age 3) through Grade 12. The School is accredited by the ​Council of International Schools​, the ​Western Association of Schools and Colleges​and the ​International Baccalaureate Organization​. The school provides a co-educational environment for elementary, secondary, and college preparatory courses based on the International Baccalaureate programme for more than 1,100 students in pre-school through to grade 12.
