Bai Shaluo National Chinese School, also known as SJK(C) Damansara, is one of the finest Chinese national primary schools. It was the first national primary school in Section 17, Petaling Jaya, and ranks among the oldest in Malaysia. It was established in 1930 to serve as a community school for the early settlers in the area, which is now known as Kg Baru Damansara. At that time, much of what is now Petaling Jaya was either dense jungle or agricultural land. Over the years, the neighboring lands transformed into new townships and residential estates, including Section 17, SS2, Damansara Utama, Damansara Jaya, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, and Bandar Utama, each having a significant Chinese-speaking population.
At present, SJKC Damansara is one of only six National Type Chinese Schools (SJKC) within the MPPJ area, making it natural to receive an influx of students from the surrounding neighborhoods. Despite having a compact 0.8-acre campus, capable of accommodating only 400 students by prevailing standards, the school’s enrollment had surged to 1,422 students by 1999.
The vision of the Board of Governors at SJKC Damansara is to provide quality education, nurturing individuals for the betterment of the nation. The school’s board envisions the educational future of the community and strives to offer a conducive learning environment for the students.
