The Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC) empowers local communities to sustainably manage forests in the Asia-Pacific. With over 30 years of experience, The Center has developed innovative & enduring solutions to help communities stop deforestation, strengthen capacities to find alternative livelihoods, and promote social inclusion and gender equity within forested landscapes. The Center's programs empower a large network of communities, governments and the private sector with rights, opportunities for dialogue, technical expertise, tools and knowledge to solve the world’s most complex problems. By investing in The Center, you are helping envision a future where people live equitably and sustainably, in and alongside thriving forests and healthy, resilient landscapes. The Center will help 4.8 million people live more equitably, with dignity and greater empowerment to protect themselves from injustices of poverty and environmental degradation. The Center’s focal countries are: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Viet Nam. To date, The Center has trained over 60,000 people, of which 30% have been women – including national policymakers, government staff, researchers, civil society staff, local forest managers, local communities, & private sector actors – from over 60 countries.
