RECOFTC is dedicated to creating a world where people live equitably and sustainably in and beside healthy, resilient forests. It takes a long-term, landscape-based and inclusive approach to supporting local communities to secure their land and resource rights, stop deforestation, find alternative livelihoods and foster gender equity. RECOFTC is the only non-profit organization of its kind in Asia and the Pacific. It has more than 30 years of experience working with people and forests, and has built trusting relationships with partners at all levels. RECOFTC’s influence and partnerships extend from multilateral institutions to governments, private sector and local communities. Its innovations, knowledge and initiatives enable countries to foster good forest governance, mitigate and adapt to climate change, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

RECOFTC’s core values are the foundation of its culture and approach:

  • Embrace innovation
  • Adapt to, and learn from, challenges
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders
  • Nurture commitment, responsibility and ownership
  • Prioritize sustainability
  • Cultivate participation, social inclusion and gender equity

RECOFTC helps countries and communities achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for poverty, hunger, environment, climate change and gender. It is the trusted broker in the Asia-Pacific, bridging gaps among communities, countries and international organizations and alliances such as ASEAN. It builds the capacity of all, transforming conflict into collaboration. RECOFTC’s entry point to sustainable development and climate change solutions is community forestry.

RECOFTC works throughout the Asia-Pacific. It has a main office in Bangkok and offices in seven countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Viet Nam.
