As the Philippines’ major private sector coordinator for disaster risk reduction and management, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) is providing support to the country in responding to and recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, it is working in the following strategic areas:

  • Supporting the national government in containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic through building the capacity of the healthcare sector in pandemic preparedness and response; providing food assistance, transport and accommodation assistance, personal protective equipment (PPE), test kits, and ventilators for hospitals across the country; and providing logistics support
  • Complementing government response through food security for the urban poor and other vulnerable sectors; and risk communications and community engagement
  • Supporting enterprise business continuity and organizational resilience, and MSME recovery through delivery of basic services from lifeline companies; supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises through business continuity; and anticipating needs to support local economic activities.
  • Supporting the private sector in its response activities for typhoon-affected areas which includes technical support, resource augmentation, and capacity building to support national and local government authorities, UN, and civil society organizations in jumpstarting the economic activity and recovery of affected communities.
  • Following the COVID-19 protocols, PDRF and its private sector network are engaged in providing access to financial services and digital platforms; providing ready-to-eat meals, hygiene and disinfection kits adjusted for COVID-19, and shelter repair tools; providing logistical support in transporting food and non-food relief items; providing generator sets for emergency power supply and repairing damaged powerlines; providing mental health and psychosocial support in affected areas; providing free call booths and free charging stations; providing drinking water and water filtration systems.
Funds raised will be used to address the following immediate needs:
  • Shortage of PPE sets, including N95 or surgical masks, surgical gloves, protective coveralls, shoe covers, goggles, surgical gowns, and surgical caps
  • Lack of testing kits
  • Lack of ventilators for hospitals across the country
  • Basic human necessities (food packs, drinking water, medicines, and hygiene kits) for communities affected and displaced by the typhoons
  • Shelter repair kits
  • Livelihood starter kits
  • Fishing boats (for coastal communities)
