The roots of Osaka University can be found in two places of scholarship – Kaitokudo and Tekijuku, established in the Edo period (1603-1868). Their spirit of innovation and progress serves as the cornerstone of Osaka’s endeavors in education and research. Under the motto, “Live Locally, Grow Globally,” Osaka University aims to continue to deliver global impact in research, education, and enterprise for the benefit of the world community.
