Osaka University, one of Japan’s leading comprehensive research universities, was founded in 1931 as the sixth imperial university of Japan. The roots of Osaka University can be found in two places of scholarship – Kaitokudo and Tekijuku, established in the Edo period (1603-1868). Their spirit of innovation and progress serves as the cornerstone of Osaka’s endeavors in education and research.
