Japan Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (JVOAD)

Our Mission

JVOAD works with various disaster support sector in both private sector and government to coordinate in providing the necessary support to those in need. We hold information sharing meetings to coordinate among supporters and create a place to solve the issues.

The Need

In a disaster, a lot of support goes into the disaster area. It is necessary to understand the needs from the victims and the overall picture of the support, and to coordinate the support to eliminate the leakage and unevenness of the support.

The Solution

To hold knowledge sharing meetings and coordinate among supporters to create a place to address issues. To work well and create a network with several sectors aiming to create coordination guidelines, and develop the training programs for coordinators in a peacetime.

Our Impact

Since the establishment of the organization in 2016, knowledge sharing meetings have been held by several support sectors in 26 prefectures in 12 large-scale disasters. Approximately 20 of the 47 prefectures have established a network for support and coordination in a disaster.
