On October 23rd, the Asian Chefs Association of the Bay Area held a fundraiser benefit in San Jose to support Give2Asia and local responders to the recent deadly earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi, Indonesia. 142 guests attended the evening event and together raised a total of US$ 50,020 for the disaster response. All of the funds raised went towards Give2Asia’s partners on the ground engaged in immediate and long-term disaster response for affected communities. US$ 50,000 Raised for Indonesia
The benefit was organized by the Asian Chefs Association of the Bay Area and took place at The Province restaurant in San Jose, the newest restaurant created by Chef Chris Yeo, who originally founded Straits restaurant. The event included a live auction and food tastings from some of the best chefs in the Bay Area. All funds went to Give2Asia’s Indonesia Earthquake & Tsunami Fund.

About the Disaster
On September 28th, two earthquakes struck Sulawesi island in Indonesia and triggered a 10-foot tsunami. The disasters have left at least 1,300 people dead and thousands displaced, with numbers expected to increase as assessments continue.
