Our Mission
To work for the cause and care of disadvantaged aged persons and to improve their quality of life.The Need
India has an elderly population of 138 million people, i.e. those above 60 years old. Of our elder population, of which 55 million sleep hungry, and 9 million elderly are going blind from cataract. 90% elders must work to survive, as they have no pension, PF, financial support, or medical coverage.The Solution

The organization delivers positive impact via its direct interventions in the areas of Healthcare (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), AgeCare (helplines, senior citizen care homes and day care centres, physiotherapy), Livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with Government schemes),Assam Emergency Flood Response 2022
Assam has been reeling under devastating floods with 4941 villages of 32 districts now inundated by floodwaters. Additionally, landslides have been reported in Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Morigaon, Kamrup & Kamrup (M) in the last few days making the situation even more catastrophic. 126 people have lost their lives and the death toll is constantly rising. 55 lakhs have been displaced and more than 10000 hectares of cultivated land has been submerged under floodwaters. About 200 houses have been destroyed in the state as well.
The Need
In the Rapid Needs Assessment undertaken by the HelpAge India team in consultation with the Community Based Organizations and affected community, the immediate survival requirements have been identified as healthcare, food and essential commodities, temporary shelters and hygiene materials, etc.
Healthcare
HelpAge India is providing essential health services in the affected villages as well as relief camps, especially for elderly with Noncommunicable Diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, who are unable to get medical services. For epidemic prevention our teams are also distributing bleaching powder and disinfectants. They are also reaching several inaccessible areas by boat.
The Relief Package
HelpAge India is on the ground providing relief packages to the flood affected such as Food & Hygiene Package @ INR 2,000 per Family and the Essential Items for Family (Non-Food) Package @ INR 6,000 per Family.
