Health And Nutrition Development Society (HANDS)

Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS) Pakistan is one of the leading non-profit organizations in the country. It works towards improving health, promoting education, alleviating poverty, building infrastructure, and developing social institutions for community empowerment. Their primary aim is to empower the poor. HANDS has a strength of 13 volunteer board members, a 10,000 workforce, and thousands of community-based volunteers from more than 6,300 partner organizations. Their services include providing integrated health services at the national level, infrastructure development, alternate energy and shelter, education and literacy, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), livelihood enhancement, and disaster management. 

HANDS Pakistan operates at the local, national, and regional levels. They focus on several provinces in Pakistan, such as Islamabad Capital Territory, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They have vast experience in implementing humanitarian response and recovery projects with the support of several partners, including FCDO/UKAID. HANDS has provided benefits to 1,142,324 beneficiaries with the support of FCDO/UKAID. The partnership between UKAID and HANDS started in 2010. Under this 11-year partnership, HANDS has completed 6 projects with a financial worth of GBP 28.6 million, including the Multi-Year Humanitarian Program. With the support of FCDO, HANDS provided humanitarian assistance to the communities, and the early recovery programs were designed with climate-smart and community-led approaches. The programs contributed to the capacity building of community-based organizations on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Resilience.
