Our Mission

To achieve an Australia without hunger. To deliver the most food to the most Australians in need in the most efficient and effective way.

The Need

On any given day, more than half a million Australian homes struggle to meet their food needs and the rising cost of living is the single biggest reason why. This is impacting not only demand for food relief, but also Foodbank’s supply. This is why they need your help more than ever.

The Solution

Foodbank works with farmers, wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers to source essential food and groceries so they can make it available to charities providing food relief. They also support children through school breakfast programs and communities affected by emergencies or natural disasters.

Our Impact

Last year, Foodbank sourced 45.6 million kilograms of food and groceries, which equated to 82 million meals. They work with 2,625 frontline charities and 2,980 schools to support Australians who are struggling, and currently feed over 1 million Australians each month.

When it comes to natural disasters, such as bushfires, floods and cyclones, Foodbank is the only food relief organisation to play a formal role in times of emergency. It provides essential supplies to support the work of emergency services and first responders as well as ongoing assistance to affected communities during the weeks and months it takes to recover.

Foodbank also plays a vital role in tackling Australia’s $36 billion food waste problem and contributes to climate change solutions by reducing CO2 emissions arising from landfill.

Despite Foodbank’s scale and capacity, charities still report that they are not receiving enough food to meet the full need of the people they assist. This is why, with your support, they strive to feed Australians in need every day.
