Our Mission

A World without diabetes and its complications.

The Need

Pakistan, unfortunately, is 3rd largest country with diabetes patients. There is a dire need to educate people about life-threatening diseases such as diabetes and their complications. The Diabetes Centre is Pakistan's first and largest hospital to battle diabetes. Funding is a major issue.

The Solution

To provide medical services to manage diabetes and treat the complications.

Our Impact

For a decade, TDC treated more than 225,000 patients, conducted 120 - 135 monthly dialysis sessions, 23,834 eyesight saved, 14,850 pedoscans to prevent amputations, conducted more than 6,000 foot procedures to save patients from amputations, and treated 150 Type 1 patients.

The Diabetes Centre (TDC) is a dream come true. Its Chair, Dr. Asjad Hameed, a British Pakistani, renowned Diabetologist and Endocrine specialist, took a meager start way back a decade. He spent a considerable time of his life in elevated positions in the United Kingdom and UAE. Dr. Asjad Hameed and his family relocated and said goodbye to lucrative employment outside Pakistan. He took off from a container and started with a mission to create awareness among people about diabetes and treat the underprivileged strata of Pakistan’s society.
His dream came true when a selfless renowned industrialist and philanthropist, Mr. Tahir M. Abbasi, donated his land along Muree Express. This is the place where The Diabetes Centre’s massive and majestic building stands today. It is run by a Board of Directors spread across the globe. Chairman is Dr. Asjad Hameed, and CEO is Mr. Tahir M. Abbasi. It is worth seeing a state-of-the-art Hospital that offers treatment to diabetic patients and their related complications under one roof. The Diabetes Centre is Pakistan’s first and largest Hospital that treats diabetes in particular.

It’s running on a 60/40 model. Sixty percent of patients are being treated free, while forty percent are paying patients. For those charged, money is spent on those who cannot afford the treatment. Lately, TDC has taken a landmark step to provide free insulin to Type 1 diabetes patients. Diabetes is rising fast in Pakistan, and TDC is going extra mile to save patients and make the country diabetes free. Donations come and patients get treated. TDC is on journey of expansion, hospitals are planned to be built in Lahore and Sahiwal. TDC needs a continuous flow of donations for expansion and running our operations.
