Support local nonprofits responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam

The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen infections in many provinces in Vietnam. On August 1st, Vietnam’s total COVID-19 cases reached 154,360 after the Ministry of Health reported a daily increase of 8,620. A total of 23 new infections were imported and 8,597 were locally transmitted.
The Vietnamese government has mandated closures of non-essential businesses, restaurants, bans public gatherings, and severely limits transportation services in many provinces of Vietnam, including main cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. All people are requested to stay at home and only go out in case of emergencies, buying food or medicine, or going to work at factories and essential services. Several parts of the cities have been in full lockdown.
This has posed difficulties and hardship to many locals as they are not able to work to earn their living due to the shutdown. Social groups try to help with local needs such as providing food, food delivery, necessities supportThe Vietnamese government has been accelerating the vaccination for the citizens, but the vaccine is limited, prolonging the situation.
