At the peak of the second wave of COVID-19, Nepal faced one of the highest rate of confirmed deaths per capita anywhere in Asia.

Hospitals remain heavily impacted and the economic impacts of the lockdown continue to affect at-risk populations. Give2Asia’s local partners are working to complement Government relief efforts. They are urgently seeking more funding to address the surge.

CURRENT NEEDS 

Give2Asia is partnering with trusted nonprofit organizations to support frontline health workers and institutions responding to the coronavirus pandemic.  Our role is to empower our local NGO partners to support these communities through this time of challenge. Currently, our funding priorities include: 

  • Food and sanitation materials support to residents of shelter 
  • Livelihood support 
  • Emergency medical supplies and safety materials

Our local NGO partners in Nepal include: 

Nyaya Health Nepal (NHN)

Nyaya Health Nepal (NHN) has been working to improve healthcare for underserved communities in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and municipal governments of Nepal since 2008. NHN operates Bayalpata Hospital at Sanfebagar Municipality, a Municipal Primary Health Center (PHC) at Chaurpati rural municipality, and a Community Health Workers (CHWs) network in other rural
municipalities. NHN’s COVID-19 response includes:

  • Increasing testing facilities
  • Providing isolation and safe treatment
  • Delivering urgently needed medical equipment, PPE, and hygiene supplies
  • Running the live dashboard at NepalEHR to monitor COVID numbers
  • Promoting preventive measures and general protective measures through community health workers

Sano Paila (Little Step) 

Sano Paila is a non-profit, community-based organization that was established in 2006. Their development work spans many areas, including child protection, health improvement, livelihood enhancement, and crisis response. Their COVID-19 response includes:

  • Managing the Feeding Nepal campaign, which provides daily meals to rickshaw pullers and their families, sanitation materials to support daily wage earners in three citiesemergency medical supplies, and safety materials 
  • Cleaning and disinfecting hospitals and public places 

KOSHISH Nepal 

KOSHISH is a non-governmental, non profit national self-help organization working in the field of mental health and psychosocial disability at the grassroots community level in Nepal. It’s COVID-19 work includes:

  • Providing psychosocial support, free consultations, daily meals, and shelter to clients in the shelter 

Nepal GoodWeave Foundation (NGF) 

  • Provides daily meal and livelihood support to carpet weavers in different location and provides sanitation materials
