PROGRESS REPORT

In August 2021, Give2Asia published a progress report on COVID-19 relief efforts from January 2020 to July 2021. You can also read our previous report from July 2020.

Give2Asia is partnering with trusted nonprofit organizations to support frontline health workers and institutions responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

CURRENT NEEDS

Give2Asia’s disaster response program funds both immediate needs and long-term recovery.

Among those most impacted by COVID-19 and mitigating measures by the government are poor Afghan families, daily laborers and wage earners, as well as returnees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP). Not only are these populations more susceptible to the illness, they are also now experiencing the full and more immediate impact of social and economic disruptions. Lack of awareness of COVID-19, coupled with low rates of health and general literacy, and rampant poverty and economic inequality will only further aggravate the impact of the pandemic in Afghanistan.

Currently, our funding priorities in Afghanistan include protecting migrants, returnees, and IDPs from COVID-19-related risk, vulnerability, and impact, and economically assisting low-wage, informal and gig workers.
