ASSIST

Our Mission

ASSIST’s mission is to promote sustainable development through community action and participation. The overall objective is to turn the communities we embrace into viable units for their own development. They work in remote villages that are unable to access support from government or aid agencies.

The Need

The villages supported are mainly populated by landless families and small and marginal farmers. These families rely on daily work on agricultural land or by migrating to the cities, and often child labour can be an issue. Health problems result from low access to clean water and sanitation.

The Solution

All projects are set up in collaboration with the village leaders, who ASSIST empower to take all decisions on the development of the wider community. Key projects include clean water & sanitation access, housing, access to education, vocational training and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Our Impact

ASSIST is working with 385,000 people every year and is actively engaged in 270 villages. In several villages, ASSIST programs have been responsible for eliminating child labour, and to date ASSIST has installed 276 water treatment plants, reducing water borne diseases such as typhoid.
