Typhoons Nesat & Nalgae Disaster Response in the Philippines: 2011

On Tuesday, September 27, 2011, Typhoon Nesat struck the Philippines, inundating the capital of Manila and leaving serious damages in 33 provinces mostly located in Luzon (north of Manila). Days later, Typhoon Nalgae struck the Philippines inflicting more damage and death.

According to the latest report by the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the typhoons have resulted in the death of at least 50 people. The initial impact of Typhoon Nesat affected 986,417 people and forced 204,376 people into evacuation centers.

In response to this disasters, Give2Asia has launched a Philippines Typhoon Disaster Fund 2011 to aid in relief effort. Gifts to this fund will be used to help Give2Asia’s local partners in Manila recover from the disasters.
