CULTURAL REVITALIZATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL REGENERATION

The Tao Foundation for Culture and Arts is a non-profit organization engaged in cultural revitalization and environmental regeneration initiatives in the Philippines. Established in 1994, it is led by an all-female Board composed of community leaders, scholars, and artists. Tao Foundation’s mission is to help facilitate the transmission, development, and exchange of traditional knowledges in the arts, environment, health, gender, and spirituality, and to contribute to the empowerment of traditional knowledge bearers. Tao Foundation’s current programs include the Agusan del Sur–School of Living Traditions where local elders transmit their knowledge to local youth; the PAMATI Gatherings where professionals listen to/learn from Native culture bearers; and the newly-launched Buhing Kabilin Eco, Agri, and Heritage Park, a concrete local response to the worsening global environmental crisis. This 2020-2021 the goal is to generate support to rehabilitate and reforest an area with different species of Indigenous trees, many of them medicinal, and to plant Native varieties of rice to help address GMO farming and food insecurity. The Agusan del Sur–School of Living Traditions also invites in-kind donations for a new laptop, printer/scanner/photocopier, camera, LCD projector, to help with office functions and to contribute to effective knowledge transmission.

Thank you all for your generous support and solidarity.
