Heima received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese and Political Science with a focus in International Relations from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Give2Asia, Heima worked for an international school in China, where she served as the college counselor and as an East Asian history teacher. She also worked for an import-export Chinese trade company that educated rural Chinese farmers on modern agricultural practices. During her years in China, she was able to travel extensively within China and all over Asia.
