Super Typhoon Rai (Odette) Donation Campaign

As the Philippines’ major private sector coordinator for disaster risk reduction and management, the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) is providing support to the country in responding to the impacts brought by Typhoon Rai (Odette).

Typhoon Rai made initial landfall in Siargao Island, northern Mindanao, in the Philippines, on 16 December 2021. It carried gusts up to 270 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h.

As of December 21, at least 2.4 million people were affected across ten (10) regions. Around 684,000 people were displaced, with about 440,000 people still in evacuation centers. A total of 139,000 houses have been damaged, out of which 53,800 were completely destroyed.

The private sector and humanitarian organizations are working together to deliver the immediate needs of communities devastated by the Typhoon. PDRF calls for cash and in-kind donations for the communities impacted by Typhoon Rai (Odette). No amount is too small.

Funds raised will be used to address the following immediate needs:

• Shelter kits
• Medicine
• Logistics
• Food packs
• Water
• Fuel

COVID-19 Pandemic Response and Recovery

The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation and its private sector network are supporting the COVID-19 response recovery efforts of the government. Currently, it is working in the following strategic areas:

• Taskforce T3 (Test, Trace, Treat), a private sector-led initiative, has been working closely with the national government since the beginning of its COVID-19 response, from the provision of PPE, medical supplies, building the capacity of healthcare workers, logistics increasing testing capacity, healthcare worker hiring, to the implementation of the National Vaccine Roadmap
• Supporting enterprise business continuity and organizational resilience, and MSME recovery through the delivery of basic services from lifeline companies; supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises through business continuity; and anticipating needs to support local economic activities.
• Supporting the private sector in its response activities for typhoon-affected areas which includes technical support, resource augmentation, and capacity building to support national and local government authorities, UN, and civil society organizations in jumpstarting the economic activity and recovery of affected communities.
• Following the COVID-19 protocols, PDRF and its private sector network are engaged in providing access to financial services and digital platforms; providing ready-to-eat meals, hygiene and disinfection kits adjusted for COVID-19, and shelter repair tools; providing logistical support in transporting food and non-food relief items; providing generator sets for emergency power supply and repairing damaged powerlines; providing mental health and psychosocial support in affected areas; providing free call booths and free charging stations; providing drinking water and water filtration systems.
