Yi Bo Shao

Mr. Shao is co-founder and Managing Partner of Matrix China and a partner at Matrix Partners, a leading venture capital firm in the U.S. In addition, Bo Shao is a co-founder and Chairman of NovaMed Pharmaceuticals, Chairman of Anjuke, Vice-Chairman of Sanfi Ceramics, and a co-founder of BabyTree. Founded in 2006 in Shanghai, NovaMed (www.novamed.com.cn) is leading specialty pharmaceutical company in China, engaged in research, development and sales of innovative pharmaceutical products. Anjuke (www.anjuke.com) was founded in Shanghai in 2007 and is the leading online marketplace for residential real estate in China. Sanfi Ceramics is one of China’s largest ceramics tiles manufacturers, with factories in Foshan, Guangdong, and Erdors, Inner Mongolia. BabyTree (www.babytree.com) is the leading online community for young parents in China.
Prior to his current positions, Mr. Shao was the founder and CEO of EachNet, which became the dominant consumer e-commerce company in China under his leadership and was acquired by eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) in 2003 in a landmark transaction. Prior to EachNet, Mr. Shao worked at the Boston Consulting Group and Goldman Sachs. Mr. Shao holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA, summa cum laude, in physics and electrical engineering from Harvard College. Mr. Shao was born in China and was a winner of national mathematics competitions over a dozen times during high school.
Mr. Shao is a recognized young business leader in China and the recipient of awards in China and abroad, including the Forum of Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum and Entrepreneur of the Year 2003 by Asian Venture Capital Journal. He is a trustee of Give2Asia (www.give2asia.org) and Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association (www.hysta.org).
