The Lontar Foundation, a not-for-profit organization based in Jakarta, Indonesia, was founded in 1987 for the purpose of promoting greater appreciation of Indonesian culture.
Its goals are reflected in the output of its two major activities divisions: Publications and Research &Documentation.
Since Lontar was founded, its Publications Division has produced more than 100 books on Indonesian language, literature, and culture. Its Research & Documentation Division had produced 24 documentary films on Indonesian writers, and 32 performance videos on Indonesian oral traditions.
