Inspire Bangladesh

FACTS ABOUT INSPIRE BANGLADESH:

• The rural population in Bangladesh is about 117 million and more than half of the population is poor (International Fund for Agricultural Development, 2008).
• More than 60% or about 80 million Bangladeshis have no access to modern health services (World Bank, 2008).
• Only one in five women receives the recommended four or more antenatal visits during her pregnancy. Less than one in five deliveries is assisted by a trained birth attendant. As a consequence-35 women are dying each day in giving child birth (USAID).
• Among those who enter primary school, only 76% complete it. Six percent of children do not enroll in school, and 25% of those who do drop out. That means 30% of Bangladeshi children do not have a primary school education. Repetition and dropout rates remain unacceptably high, especially for children living in poverty and children from minority families (USAID).
• Three-quarters of Bangladeshis live in rural areas.They primarily depend on agriculture and fishing for their daily income. Over half of these families live below the poverty line, on less than $1.25 a day. 84% of people survive on less than $2 a day. 13% of children are involved in child labor and are vulnerable to violence and abuse (UNICEF)

Considering the facts and figures above and out of compassion for fellow human beings, the Inspire Bangladesh Fund initiates and implements projects in rural Bangladesh to alleviate widespread poverty through basic education, health services and employment training.

To date, Inspire Bangladesh has built and started a maternity center (now run by Red Crescent with limited services), a computer literacy center, a primary school, a pre kindergarten and a vocation job training institute in a targeted community in Bangladesh. Funds raised will support ongoing expenses and future expansion of the services and to develop long-term, sustainable solutions. Inspire Bangladesh plans to expand its support to other poor communities in rural Bangladesh.

With the services of Advised Grant making, Fund Services and Expert Guidance from Give2Asia and with on the ground experience and a long history of philanthropic works, Inspire Bangladesh assures transparency and accountability of donors’ contributions.
