Aawaaj
Aawaaj is a non-governmental and nonprofit organization established in 1999 by the joint initiatives of professionals with strong hope to demonstrate capacity against violence and discrimination of children and women in the midwestern region of Nepal. The feelings of the powerless that experience such discrimination/violence are hidden and too often unheard. An initiative to provide free education to illiterate children and women has given birth to Change Nepal in 2003. It provides educational programs, skills training, vocational education and human rights education. Change Nepal aims to free the children and women of Nepal from all exploitative conditions, and increase their awareness and access to social services so that they can lead a better life. COPPADES (Committee for the Promotion of Public Awareness and Development Studies) is a non-profit NGO involved in social development activities in rural Nepal, and has played a significant role in the empowerment of people below the poverty line in remote communities in Nepal. Learn more.

RCDSC is a well-established nonprofit group serving residents of the Terai Region of Nepal, and which endeavors to address many social problems, such as gender discrimination and caste segregation. Learn more.
>Women Environment Preservation Committee (WEPCO)
Since 1992, the Women Environment Preservation Committee Organization (WEPCO) has been dedicated to cleaning and conserving the urban environment in Kathmandu Valley. During this time, WEPCO has encouraged a new generation of women and students to learn more about environmental issues and play an active role in improving their local environment.
WEPCO is especially known for innovation and initiative in Solid Waste Management. It has disseminated many new ideas such as waste segregation, community composting, home composting, paper recycling and biogas production from organic waste. In 2003, WEPCO was awarded the UNEP Global 500 Environment Award and the WWF Abraham Conservation Award. Learn more.
