| Founded in 1996, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Support for Afghanistan (PARSA) is an NGO working directly with the disadvantaged people of Afghanistan. Grass root support has allowed PARSA to be highly creative in program development and to take the lead in the NGO community advocating the initiation of change in social protection programs that serve the disabled and destitute, women “heads of households” and orphans. 18 years later, PARSA is staffed by a highly dedicated team of Afghans and internationals who have a long-term commitment to the rehabilitation of Afghanistan. As a part of our list of accomplishments, PARSA has launched a nationwide rebirth of the Afghan Scouts program, instituted the Healthy Afghan Child program into the national orphanage system, and created a “fair trade” model of marketing for Afghan women’s businesses called “Trade Afghan”. PARSA programs resonate with and support Afghan communities of today, as they heal and take ownership of their future.

ETTI also seeks to positively influence local approaches to vocational training by working closely with governmental institutions. ETTI is a locally-registered not-for-profit organization led by a team of local and international experts. With the help of generous donors ETTI is in a unique position to positively influence the rural areas of Western China.

Mitraniketan
| In the mountains of southern India, there are many rural communities where people still struggle to support their families. Since 1956, Mitraniketan has worked to help these communities break the cycle of poverty, exploitation, and lack of opportunities. Its work has had powerful impacts over the decades, and today Mitraniketan’s work in supporting community development and individual empowerment is a model to other NGOs around the world.
Mitraniketan – “The Abode of Friends” – is a non-profit organization founded by K. Viswanathan in his home village of Vellanad in the state of Kerala. Its focus has been in providing development-oriented education projects to empower disadvantaged children, youth, rural women, and marginal farmers. Education of children, particularly those from socially and economically disadvantaged tribal backgrounds, is Mitraniketan’s primary focus, as those children will in turn serve and support their families and their communities. Mitraniketan’s core educational principle is that rural communities and society as a whole can best be promoted through the total development of individuals, and all of Mitraniketan’s programs seek to support this vision. By supporting this fund, you will join Mitraniketan continue to serve the next generation of disadvantaged children, and expand its capacity to support rural livelihoods and community development. In particular, donations help sustain Mitraniketan’s scholarship fund. Students are not charged and are exempted from payment entirely. You can consider sponsoring a child; a full year’s expenses for a student, including tuition, educational materials, room and board, clothing, and other expenses, is only $250.

Sir Shapurji Billimoria Foundation
| Education today unfortunately reflects differences, sometimes accommodates, but rarely integrates. Sir Shapurji Billimoria Foundation (SSBF) was established primarily to promote inclusive (integrated) education in India. This is based on the premise that “all children are special” irrespective of their ability or disability, disadvantage or privilege. In view of UNESCO‟s policy of Education for All, adopted in India as “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan” and the Right to Education Act, this becomes all the more relevant. And in view of the fact that 80 million children in India lack access to education, of which 25 million have special needs, for which only 1% have services and 5.5 million teachers have no knowledge of how to deal with them, the problem is all the more staggering!
