| Founded in 1996, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Support for Afghanistan (PARSA) is an NGO working directly with the disadvantaged people of Afghanistan. Grass root support has allowed PARSA to be highly creative in program development and to take the lead in the NGO community advocating the initiation of change in social protection programs that serve the disabled and destitute, women “heads of households” and orphans. 18 years later, PARSA is staffed by a highly dedicated team of Afghans and internationals who have a long-term commitment to the rehabilitation of Afghanistan. As a part of our list of accomplishments, PARSA has launched a nationwide rebirth of the Afghan Scouts program, instituted the Healthy Afghan Child program into the national orphanage system, and created a “fair trade” model of marketing for Afghan women’s businesses called “Trade Afghan”. PARSA programs resonate with and support Afghan communities of today, as they heal and take ownership of their future.
