Sichuan Province
On August 18, massive landslides swept through the Sichuan province, the southwest region of the country, leaving at least 60 people dead. The large-scale mudslides have affected at least 10 cities and 24 counties in the province. Roads, power, and communication in many areas in the province were made inaccessible.

At least 400,000 people were evacuated, and the total number of those affected by the disaster has reached 5.76 million, according to one report by China News Service.

Gansu Province
Killing at least 1,500 people, the flooding and mudslides severely affected 13 villages in the Chengguan township of Zhouqu County and Jiangpan County, with 307 houses collapsed, 700 houses seriously damaged, and 4,189 houses overrun with water. The floods ripped many houses off of their foundations and tore multi-story apartment buildings in half.
