This would empower NGOs to make significant difference for clients, whilst adhering to international quality standards and donor guidelines.
Asia is home to the world’s leading drug producing and trafficking region. As a result of poverty, lack of education, gender inequality, corruption, transnational crimes, and governments’ inaction, millions of people fall prey to the tentacles of drug dependence. Prevalence and morbidity of communicable diseases, including HIV, TB, and Hepatitis B & C is disproportionately high among highly stigmatized drug dependents.Infections rapidly spread to partners, families, larger communities and societies resulting in a further strain and increase of health risks and expenditures. In countries with poor health and social systems, little priority is placed on ensuring access to comprehensive prevention and care services, or to address specific and vital needs of drug dependent persons and their partners.
The current global, financial downturn has further complicated an already challenging landscape.
AQI and her dedicated team of staff and consultants have worked successfully to ensure that young people, women and their children and men, who due to misfortune or regrettable circumstances, would otherwise be living in the margins of society under abysmal
conditions, can receive primary health care and access to life saving treatment.
Our teams and partners are also active in social and economic rehabilitation and reintegration. AQI’s commitment and work characterized by thinking out of the box in finding solutions for complex situations, innovative partnerships, up-to-date international benchmarks, and lean management, are cornerstones for our success. Nevertheless, this would not be possible without your support. There is so much more work to be done.
