Afghan Connection(AC) funds and supports schools, teachers and sports opportunities in Afghanistan. Dr Sarah Fane founded the charity in 2002 after working as a wartime doctor in Afghanistan during the Russian War and the Taliban times. It has supported health projects across Afghanistan and currently has funded the building of 39 schools educating over 50,000 children. Since 2011, AC has concentrated its education work in the Worsaj District of N E Afghanistan, with the aim of funding at least two school constructions each year, while supporting over 30 community based schools in the more remote areas. AC funds a teacher training programme and provides capacity building for local education authorities. The successful cricket project has brought cricket to boys and girls in all corners of Afghanistan and is backed by the famous MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) and the Afghan National Team. |
