INSTIPER has been established since December 10, 1958 after the nationalization of the plantation industry in Indonesia. It is registered with the Yayasan Pendidikan Kader Perkebunan (YDKP) [Platation Cadre Education Foundation]. All study programs are accredited with the National Accreditation Board. Each semester INSTIPER is also periodically registered with the Private Higher Education Coordination Region.
Based on its mission of national higher education in Indonesia, i.e. Education, Researches and Community Services, in the field of agricultural science, technology and engineering with focus on the plantation industry, INSTIPER also conducts sustainable agriculture-based livelihood recovery programs.
