The Chinese Association on Tobacco Control was established in 1990 and is registered as an NGO. It is a volunteer-based organization, led by an experienced team of government officials, doctors, and medical researchers who are committed to tobacco control. The organization works in collaboration with the government in its program activities, and has promoted the development of smoking control policies and guidelines. Since its founding, its achievements include the development of a newsletter and website, surveys on the status of tobacco use, national and international conferences, advertising campaigns, and the promotion of smoke-free school campaigns.
